| In its business activities, Nikko Shoji shoulders the responsibility for the entire product lifecycle, from the waste generated in the production process to the disposal of end-of-life products. Taking advantage of its nationwide network that includes the Nippon Mining & Metals Group, Nikko Shoji collects scrap and pressed scrap consisting of nonferrous metals such as copper and nickel, precious metals, which is recycled as raw materials for copper alloy factories, specialty steel factories, and nonferrous metal smelters, depending on the grade. Cooperating with a wide range of processing/disposal facilities, the Company is moving ahead with the recovery and recycling of valuable items from cell phones, personal computers, home appliances, and other end-of-life equipment that contains valuable metals as well as from industrial waste. |

| Making Unrecyclable Waste Completely Harmless |
| In addition, Nikko Shoji carries out interim treatment to reduce the volume of unrecyclable waste and make it non-polluting. The recycling systems of the Nippon Mining & Metals Group, which have acquired ISO 14001 certification, convert post-interim processing residue into slag, in addition to recovering other marketable items. They have won high praise as completely closed, zero-emission systems that do not produce secondary waste. Nikko Shoji, the largest trading company collectively involved in the handling of scrap and recycling, is proud to play the role of system coordinator, acting as a crucial link between the discharger facility and the processing/disposal facility. |
